2011 State of the City Address Available On VBTV and VBgov.com

Release Date:  Tuesday, April 19, 2011  4:15 p.m.

Virginia Beach Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr. highlighted the past and looked toward the future in the annual State of the City address, presented April 13.

In his remarks, the mayor applauded the city's rock-solid foundation and its ability to weather the current economic storms.  Sessoms said Virginia Beach has had "great achievement and even greater promise." He praised the city's diverse strengths, such as the military, tourism, agriculture, business and involved citizens.  The mayor also mentioned planned growth for strategic growth areas within the city and touted Virginia Beach's strong financial practices that continue to provide excellent results.
